The first phase is comprised of his first 14 seminal releases from 1980 to 1998, with each recording remastered from their original source tapes by Shimmy-Disc founder and longtime collaborator, Kramer.All 14 LPs are now available via danieljohnston.bandcamp.com as pay-what-you-want downloads until the end of today (December 20).

Massive Attack will join the list of artists who’ve collaborated with streetwear brand Supreme this week, with a new line of apparel featuring the band’s ‘Mezzanine’ artwork set to arrive.The brand’s next drop is set to launch tomorrow (June 17), and will feature football jerseys, button-downs and shorts. Sharon Van Etten has officially released her cover of Daniel Johnston’s ‘Some Things Last A Long Time’, which appeared in a documentary last year.The singer-songwriter recorded the cover for the film Feels Good Man, a documentary about the creator of Pepe The Frog.While Johnston’s original is quite long at almost five minutes, Van Etten elongated the track even further, with her cover clocking in at six minutes and 10 seconds. The Flaming Lips held the first “space bubble” concert in Oklahoma City last night (January 22).The concept for the show took inspiration from frontman Wayne Coyne’s own bubble, in which he usually rolls over the crowd in during the band’s gigs.Last night’s gig saw the band reutilise that bubble to hold a coronavirus-safe show, with audience members in their own inflatable balls.Taking place at Oklahoma City’s Criterion venue, fans watched the show from 100 of the “space bubbles”, each of which could fit up to three pool. The band also performed from their own balls on stage.During the show, the band played songs from throughout their back catalogue and covered Daniel Johnston’s ‘True Love Will Find You In The End’.

Beabadoobee has covered one of her all-time “favourite songwriters” for a special home session.The London singer-songwriter, who releases her debut album ‘Fake It Flowers’ this year, covered Daniel Johnston‘s ‘Walking The Cow’ from the late musician’s celebrated 1983 album ‘Hi, How Are You?’ as part of a session for Apple Music.She told the platform: “I chose to cover Daniel Johnston’s ‘Walking the Cow’ because he is one of my favourite songwriters of all time. Doing that song reminded me how pure and honest his writing can be.”She continued: “My set-up was how I imagine Daniel Johnston would have recorded his tracks.

In the fall of 2017, indie rock vets Built to Spill were tapped to be cult singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston's backing back for a couple of shows in the Pacific Northwest. During rehearsals, Built to Spill frontman Doug Martsch decided to record their interpretations of Johnston's songs — but he never really had the intention of releasing them.
