Naman Ramachandran India’s National Film Development Corporation’s (NFDC) Film Bazaar market has expanded into series development and attracted robust registrations ahead of its 2024 edition, running alongside the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The market has selected several series projects in its co-production market, following the introduction of an OTT [streaming] award at IFFI last year.

Filmmakers with works selected for the Tokyo International Film Festival’s Nippon Cinema Now section took part in a panel alongside Christian Jeune, Cannes‘ film department director and deputy general delegate.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Japan’s Agency for Cultural affairs, Friday, announced the first young filmmakers to receive support under its new Film Frontier Global Networking Program. The agency explained that Film Frontier will operate with two cycles, allowing the selected four a chance to brush up their presentation skills before then giving them opportunities to present at overseas film events. It will also connect young film makers with experienced professionals as mentors.

An incubator program for scriptwriters, directors, producers to work on developing scripts and film projects under lectures and the guidance of regional and international experts in scriptwriting, directing, producing, distribution, and markets and festivals, mylab focuses on projects at an early stage of development, with a team of scriptwriter, director and/or producer attached, targeted at regional or international audiences. It aims for each project to deliver a package of script, budget, financing plan, dossier and pitch-ready materials at the end of the program.
