If you're a long-running EastEnders fan you'll remember the friendly face of cab driver Charlie Slater who arrived in Walford with his four daughters and mother-in-law Mo Harris back in 2000.The doting father of four to Lynne, Kat, Little Mo, and Zoe Slater was played by Derek Martin who became an iconic and well-loved character on the BBC soap for an impressive 15 years. During his time on EastEnders, he was found in the midst of some vast storylines often relating to his daughters, including Kat's heartbreaking abuse from his brother Harry to being charged with GBH after defending Little Mo.

Charli XCX has responded to EastEnders' Lily Slater naming her baby after her on the show.This week in the BBC soap, 13 year old Lily gave birth to her daughter, and when the dad, Ricky Mitchell, arrived, they announced that her name is going to be Charli Branning Slater. As they announced the little ones name, Lily's mum Stacey asked: "Aww, after Uncle Charlie?" But Ricky was quick to clarify: "No, after Charli XCX," confusing Stacey.The clip of the moment soon went viral on social media, and it caught the attention of the Boom Clap singer, who responded by saying: "Shout out my gays in the writer's room!" Her response prompted a number of fans to talk about the unique interaction, with one person commenting: "This is the most British crossover ever." While another said: "There’s nothing more iconic than this." Someone else wrote: "I can only imagine Speed Drive playing in the background while the baby was born." The naming comes after a big few months for the 31 year old singer, after she landed her sixth top 10 single with Speed Drive, which featured in the new Barbie film.

EastEnders actor Derek Martin, who played the iconic character of Charlie Slater on the BBC One soap, has celebrated his 90th birthday.The star appeared to be having a fantastic time as he enjoyed the festivities with his two sons David and Jonathan.There was also a ginormous birthday cake covered in fruit for the birthday boy, and the words "Happy 90th Birthday Derek" were written in icing on top.The actor opted for a smart white shirt and navy jumper for his party, and he was all smiles as he tucked in to some strawberry slices while posing for photos. Fans couldn't believe just how young the actor looked, believing he's barely aged since leaving EastEnders. "Happy 90th birthday Derek, hope you have enjoyed your special day celebrating," one person commented.
