Build A Rocket Boy, the studio founded by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, has hired a number of high profile industry veterans.The new hires are former Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe vice president Mick Hocking, former 2K VP of publishing Murray Pannell and former SVP of publishing at NCSoft Randall Price (via VGC).Hocking is now chief development officer, with Pannell taking up SVP of global marketing and Price now chief publishing officer.Regarding the new hires, Benzies said: “Since 2016, Build A Rocket Boy’s team has been quietly growing and today we’re delighted to publicly welcome Mick, Murray and Randall to the studio.“Each of them brings a huge amount of experience, knowledge and passion to Build A Rocket Boy as we continue development on Everywhere, and we’re looking forward to having more to announce from the team later in 2022” (via GamesIndustry.biz).Build A Rocket Boy appears to be stacking up its development talent for its first project, Everywhere, which is set to be a “real-life Ready Player One” multiplayer title.

Benzies is best known as the former president of “Grant Theft Auto” creator Rockstar Games’ Rockstar North.

Build A Rocket Boy has finally unveiled a first-look at its upcoming “multi-world game experience” Everywhere at Gamescom 2022.Everywhere was shown off at Gamescom Opening Night Live today (August 23), with the game set to release in 2023.The title aims to seamlessly blend “gameplay, adventure, creativity and discovery in an all-new multi-world gaming experience that redefines how players connect with one another and the digital world around them.”In the trailer, which can be seen below, there are a number of science fiction worlds underpinned by third-person platforming, shooting and even racing, giving us a look at the type of experiences Everywhere will offer.Check out the trailer from Gamescom Opening Night Live below.pic.twitter.com/WvkL8C5yPB— Everywhere (@everywhere_game) August 23, 2022The exact scope of Everywhere is yet to be officially revealed, however earlier this year a document suggested that it would be like a “real-life” Ready Player One. It will apparently be an open world Triple-A multiplayer game with an “epic narrative” and focus on user generated content in a virtual sandbox, which sounds similar to what was shown in the above trailer.“Our intent has always been to push the boundaries of what a video game can be while still delivering an innovative player-first experience,” said game director and Build A Rocket Boy Chairman, Leslie Benzies.
