WWE's new boss 'attacked her dad with a steel pipe before he choked her unconscious'
READ MORE: WWE Raw Results: Bobby Lashley defends US Championship against Seth RollinsBut in 2003, the pair did actually face off for the seat of power in front of millions on television and an audience of more than 10,000 in a huge arena. The WWE's first ever father vs daughter match happened on the No Mercy pay-per-view, with Stephanie's job as general manager of the Smackdown brand on the line. Before we go any further, let's not pretend – this was all scripted and has no relevance to the fact that she would actually take over from her father nearly 20 years later.Anyway, back to the madness of WWE in the early 2000s.In an era when men vs women wasn't shunned by WWE bosses in the way it has been in recent years, Stephanie and her bodybuilding dad battled it out in an I Quit match. The simple rule of this is that the loser has to scream “I QUIT” into a microphone when they can't take any more punishment from their opponent. So how did this insanity come to be?Well, it was a strange love rival battle between Vince, who had decided to go an have an in-ring...maybe...affair with Sable, and wife Linda McMahon. She was represented by Stephanie, who was so angered by her dad's actions – something he had done many times before, however – that she was defending her mother's honour. And Vince being Vince, who played Mr McMahon on screen, had zero issues beating up his daughter in front of a watching audience. And interesting, the match took place just six days before Stephanie was getting in-real-life married to WWE legend Triple H.Speaking to the First Things First podcast recently about the build-up, she recalled: “Oh my goodness.“Well, I did have to wrestle my father in what may be the first-ever father - daughter match, six days

WWE superstar goes flying in Newcastle as ring ropes snap during headline bout
WWE superstar Bobby Lashley was sent flying unexpectedly during his bout last night (Thursday, April 29) in Newcastle. The former WWE champion was battling Scottish superstar Drew McIntyre at the Utiltia Arena when the horrifying moment happened. While McIntyre and Lashley were running against alternate ring ropes, the top rope snapped, which saw the 45-year-old go flying head first over the rope – backwards.McIntyre then dropped to his knees in shock with his hands over his head, as fellow wrestler Sam Zayn – who was out there to interfere in the match – stood next to Lashley as the referee checked on him.The referee gave the signal to show that Lashley was OK to continue, and the match finished despite there being no top rope.Rangers-mad McIntyre, who is reportedly set to face boxing world champion Tyson Fury at WWE's huge stadium show in Cardiff in September, defeated Lashley to close the show. The ring rope can be made of steel cables encased in a rubber hose, wrapped in white or black PVC tape, although WWE is thought to fill their ropes with natural fibre. They are attached to the corner posts using metal fixings, which are tightened until the rope has very little give left.WWE will be hoping that the ropes stay put when the company heads to Cardiff's Principality stadium in September as the event has already smashed company records, including WrestleMania - without a single ticket being sold.Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment empire confirmed earlier this week that they’ll be heading to the Welsh capital in September for a landmark event. The show, which has yet to be named, is set to be the first major stadium event to be held in the UK in some 30 years when the grappling giant sold out London’s Wembley Stadium for
