At this time last year, there were 38 comedy series airing across the broadcast networks — again, including repeats — and CBS had six of the 10 most-watched.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter“Ghosts” has been renewed for Season 2 at CBS, with the broadcaster also announcing a Season 5 renewal for “The Neighborhood” and a Season 4 renewal for “Bob Hearts Abishola.” CBS had previously announced a three-year renewal for “Big Bang Theory” prequel “Young Sheldon.” “Ghosts” has proven to be a success for CBS in its freshman run. According to the network, the single-camera comedy is averaging approximately 8.1 million viewers per episode.

Fox’s flagship drama series 9-1-1 scored Monday’s best rating in broadcast primetime, delivering a 0.8 in the adults 18-49 demographic to go along with 4.90 million viewers. The 8 p.m. drama was tied in the hour with NBC’s The Voice, which ended out its two-hour run with a 0.7 rating and 6.34 million total viewers, according to Nielsen fast-national numbers.

NBC’s The Voice hit the right note with its latest episode to top Monday primetime. The singing competition series, which has regularly topped primetime since the beginning of the new season, earned a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.23 million viewers in its 8-10 p.m. slot, slightly up from last week’s count.

CBS’ praised Mom — the network’s longest running comedy series on the air — will end its run after the current eighth season. Mom‘s series finale has been set for May 6 in its Thursday 9 PM time period.
