Joe Otterson TV Reporter Netflix has greenlit the limited series “Black Rabbit” starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law. The series was originally announced as being in development at the streamer back in October 2022. With the greenlight announcement, it is also confirmed that Cleopatra Coleman (“Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire”), Amaka Okafor (“Bodies,” “The Responder”), Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (“Gangs of London,” “Slow Horses”), and Dagmara Dominczyk (“Succession,” “The Lost Daughter”) will all star in the series alongside Bateman and Law.

THREE big budget dramas have been axed after a popular TV channel merged with a streamer in a major shake-up. TV fans have been hit by a barrage of cancellations across the various streaming services, such as Netflix.

This year, TV has seen a new season of FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” as well as the debuts of AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire,” Peacock’s “Vampire Academy,” and Netflix’s “First Kill” — all of which were based on existing intellectual property. It follows, then, that the latest entry into the genre would be drawn from a story that was big during the last great vampire craze. “Let the Right One In,” a 2004 Swedish novel that became a Swedish film in 2008, just in time for “Twilight”-mania — and followed by an American adaptation called “Let Me In” in 2010 — now inspires a Showtime series executive produced by Andrew Hinderaker of “Away” and “Penny Dreadful.” In its early going, the show is intriguing: Its central story, of the tremulous, growing bond between a young vampire (Madison Taylor Baez) and her socially isolated peer (Ian Foreman) is sweetly drawn. But the show falters in illustrating the world around its characters. Though the kids are at the heart of the show, their interactions tend to lack stakes.

Showtime has given a formal pilot green light to Let the Right One In, a vampire drama starring Demián Bichir (A Better Life). Away's season finale was a tense, but ultimately rewarding, episode that could serve as a decent series finale, but executive producer Andrew Hinderaker has plenty of plans for the future. After safely making it down to Mars and taking a group photo together — instead of the solo one of Yu (Vivian Wu) as requested — the message viewers were left with as the season wrapped up was ultimately one of hope. We're pretty far away from a happy ending however, considering the mission has really only just begun.
