A children's author and parish councillor who was shot during a daytime attack outside his home by a motorbike gunman has died, local leaders have said.

Alex Sartain, 34, crashed and died fleeing police on his motorbike after he left James Nash, 42, fighting for his life in what is believed to have been a row over planning.
