Person rushed to hospital following serious collision in south Manchester

A person has been rushed to hospital after a serious collision in Withington. Emergency services were called to reports of the collision on Mauldeth Road West at around 11.50am on Friday, May 31.

A large cordon was erected along the road, stretching from the junction with Wilmslow Road and Yew Tree Road. A number of paramedics and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene, including an air ambulance which landed in the field next to Old Moat Park. READ MORE: Man seriously injured in Stockport crash which saw air ambulance land before fire breaks out in building One woman, who lives nearby, told the Manchester Evening News that she saw the ambulance land on the field before a number of police cars arrived. “They’ve been in and out all day,” she said.

She added that she heard reports that there had been a ‘hit and run’. A man also said he heard reports that a person had been hit and were seriously injured. “It was all very quick,” he added.

The nature and seriousness of the injuries is not known, but a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said a person was rushed to hospital in a ‘serious condition’.
