A person was rescued from a fire at a flat in Irlam on Monday evening after the blaze broke out in a kitchen. Emergency services raced to the scene of the fire at a block of apartments on Liverpool Road shortly before 8pm.
One casualty was taken to hospital for 'precautionary checks' and a further person was checked over at the scene by paramedics.
Crews remained in attendance for a number of hours on Monday evening, as the Cheshire Fire Service were also called in to assist.
Onlookers described how the area became 'very smoky', with those living in the flats evacuated temporarily as the flames were dampened.
