As it stands, international football’s biggest tournament is held every four years. The next tournament is to be staged in Qatar next year.

Usually a summer tournament, the 2022 edition will be held in in winter due to the temperatures Qatar reaches in June and July.

In May, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation proposed halving the time between World Cup, making it a two year cycle. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is currently leading the charge for such change.
