Pep Guardiola admitted he cannot see a place for Kalvin Phillips in his current Manchester City system as he sent an extraordinary apology to the midfielder.
Phillips turned down the chance to leave on loan in the summer after a difficult first year at City, but has only started once in all competitions this season and has made just eight appearances.
Even in the four games Rodri has been suspended, Phillips has barely featured since starting the first game against Newcastle, playing 25 minutes against Wolves and sitting on the bench against Arsenal and Aston Villa.
He has strongly been linked with a January exit of some description, admitting recently he may have to leave for the minutes he needs to make England's Euro 2024 squad.
