Probably not, but TikTok is making a strong case for the method.Think of it like a DIY Dream Matte Mousse, but instead of making skin look cakey, this hack promises to give your complexion a natural and seriously smooth appearance.The trick is very simple; you just need a small hand-held electric whisk, a glass, some water and a full bottle of foundation.Think of the method a bit like the lockdown iced coffee hack that went viral the other year where people created a dalgona coffee by whipping equal parts instant coffee powder, sugar and hot water until it became air-light and creamy.
Instead of the coffee and sugar, though, here you’re using foundation and water.The trend seems to have been started by US-based TikTok user Avonna Sunshine, who calls the froth technique a “game changer”.
Avonna explains the process in a video that has been liked over 50k times. She shows off her chosen glass to whip up the foundation in – a glass salad dressing bottle with high sides – and then the “drugstore” foundation she’s using: Maybelline Fit Me Matte Poreless in shade 338, £5.99 here. “Now I'm going to add the full bottle of Fit Me,” she says, showing her dropping the foundation into around 5 tbsp of water.
