For many families across Greater Manchester, this Bank Holiday weekend will signal the start of the Easter school holidays. With the cost of living continuing to impact everything from utility bills to food prices, the holidays can often prove to be an expensive and difficult time.

It can also be a tough time for people who live alone and those who aren't able to spend time with loved ones. Ahead of the long weekend, Manchester-based charity Feedo Needo handed out free food parcels to people in need at Droylsden Juniors Football Club on Thursday morning (March 28).

it's people you're not expecting' Rebecca Hargreaves, Project Coordinator for the Manchester branch of Feedo Needo, said more than 50 food parcels were handed out within the first 10 minutes of opening the doors on Thursday morning - and all of the day’s packages were given out after just 20 minutes. “We have seen an increase in people coming to us in recent months,” Rebecca tells the Manchester Evening News. “There’s a lot of families who are struggling right now.
