Pensioner who planned to ‘rape girl aged 12’ was armed with Viagra and Blue WKD

An elderly man who planned to rape a 12-year-old girl had a ‘kit’ with him which included a Viagra tablet and a bottle of Blue WKD alcohol.

William Meehan had arranged to meet a girl called “Jess” at a leisure centre after grooming her online. The 75-year-old told Jess he desired to “make love” to her while her mum was away and told her she was his “girlfriend”.

However Jess was in fact a covert policeman, who was working on an operation to snare Meehan. When the pensioner arrived at the swimming pool to meet the minor he was confronted and arrested by officers.

Meehan, now 76, who appeared at court this week for sentencing used two crutches to walk, a hearing aid and needed an oxygen mask to assist him.The now 76-year-old, of Cawthorne
