Pensioner, 90, fighting for life after being 'hit by car' on Scots street

A pensioner has been left fighting for life after being 'hit by a car' in Inverclyde. The 90-year-old was allegedly struck by a Suzuki Splash car on Union Street, near Kelly Street in Greenock shortly after 11am yesterday.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, sped to the scene and the victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

Medics describe her condition as life-threatening. The driver of the car, also aged 90, was not hurt.An investigation has been launched into the incident, with officers at the road policing complex in Govan now appealing for witnesses.Anyone with any information on what happened, or who may have captured the collision on CCTV or has dashcam footage, is being urged to come forward.Anyone with information should contact police via 101 quoting incident number 1082 of 27 October 2022.
