A nurse has been fined £570 after her car hit and seriously injured a pedestrian on a Lanarkshire street.Karamjit Kaur, 49, had four penalty points put on her licence, but she avoided a driving ban at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.The mum of two admitted driving carelessly on Caledonian Road, Wishaw, on February 5 last year.Kaur, of Beltane Street, Wishaw, was originally charged with causing serious injury to the male pedestrian by driving dangerously, but her guilty plea to the reduced charge was accepted by the prosecution.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

He was in hospital for a week after the collision.It happened after the accused's car turned into Caledonian Road from Main Street just after 10pm on a Saturday night.The man had stepped on to a pelican crossing when the pedestrian light was showing red, but he had checked and seen a gap in the traffic.Kaur failed to see him and struck the victim in the middle of the road, causing him to roll over the bonnet and land on the ground.Defence agent Bobby Reid said his client had no previous convictions and no endorsements on her licence.He stated: "The victim was walking diagonally across the road so he wasn't on the crossing when the collision happened."Speed was not an
