Broadcast owes a debt of gratitude to Norman Lear, so they’re going to show it tonight. In recognition of Lear’s accomplishments and influence across television, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX and The CW will simulcast an on-air in memoriam card tonight at 8:00 PM, ET/PT to honor the late legendary TV writer and producer.
Lear died Tuesday of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles. He was 101. The Uber-producer’s series were icons on broadcast TV.
All in the Family aired on CBS for nine seasons, while Good Times and One Day at a Time ran on the same net for six seasons and nine seasons, respectively.
His other series included Sanford & Son, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, Fernwood 2 Night/America 2 Night, and the All in the Family spinoffs The Jeffersons, Maude and Archie Bunker’s Place.
