BBC Radio 2 fans have been left devastated after hearing that host Paul O’Grady is being taken off air after 23 years and will be replaced by comedian Rob Beckett.
Paul O'Grady on the Wireless has been going strong since 2009 with fans tuning in every Sunday to enjoy his gentle humour and celebrity anecdotes between 5pm and 7pm.But this week, Paul announced that he will be absent for the next 13 weeks, and that his show will now only run for 13-week seasons at a time.Taking his place for the time being is Celebs Go Dating narrator and stand up comedian Rob, who will be in the hot seat instead.
But not everyone is pleased with the news, with some loyal listeners threatening to boycott the station in protest. One furious fan tweeted: “Whose idea is it to replace @PaulOGradyShow with @robbeckettcomic even for 13 weeks?
You’ve already lost @GrahamNortonFan and now this.“No offence to Rob but two completely different personalities and audiences.
