Paul O'Grady's husband opens up about TV star's final moments - 'I was frozen with shock’
ok.co.ukOne year on since the tragic death of TV legend Paul O’Grady, his husband Andre Portasio has candidly spoken about the star’s final moments, including his own shock at having to say goodbye to the love of his life.
On the day of Paul’s death, 28 March 2023, Andre explained that they had started their day like normal, with nothing out of the ordinary on the cards that could possibly hint at the tragedy that lay ahead. “The day he died, we had the most ordinary day,” Andre told The Mirror. “ I’d got up early and gone down to the fields as I was working in the woodland.
Paul had come back from touring, so was a little bit tired and woke up really late.” However despite the late wake-up, Paul was in good spirits and impeccably dressed as he had a meeting lined up with his producer Malcolm Prince, about his radio show.
Dressed in a button down white shirt, Andre even told his husband how good he looked, to be teasingly told to “f**k off” in response.
