Steve Sedgley will never live down the day Paul Gascoigne unveiled an elaborate tribute to his Tottenham team-mate – by bringing a live ostrich to training.

Manager Terry Venables was baffled and Sedgley explained: “Gazza used to call me ‘Long Neck’ and there was a zoo called Paradise Park near to where he lived. “He would often visit it and if he saw an ostrich or an emu he would shout out, ‘There’s Steve Sedgley’ One day, walking towards the training pitch I could see Gazza walking alongside what appeared to be a zoo keeper carrying a sack. “The sack opens to reveal an ostrich wearing a Spurs shirt with ‘Long Neck’ on the back.
