When Paul's friends and family help to raise money to help him with his motor neurone disease at a chilli eating competition, everything seems in good spirits as he joins Dev, Chesney and Shona.

However, as he heads back to the flat it proves too much for the character, who is played by Peter Ash. Over a heated argument about the power of religion over healing crystals with his mum, Paul realises she's had enough.
