'Desperate patients' have been left feeling so weak after paying their living costs that they are being forced to take drastic measures, says one Greater Manchester GP.

People have been contacting the doctor asking for 'help to buy food, even be prescribed nutritional shakes', as eating has become simply unaffordable.

These are 'working families in 2022' appearing at 'general practice in 2022', Bolton GP and Covid-19 vaccine lead, Dr Helen Wall, tells the Manchester Evening News , amid a huge spikes in costs of living.

Patients have also been revealing how 'humiliating' and 'embarrassing' they find seeking help during financial struggles, says the doctor, as people minimise their own difficulties by comparing themselves to those 'worse off in war'.
