Neil Diamond’s 1969 hit Sweet Caroline has become something of an anthem for the nation, but some viewers of Saturday’s Party at the Palace were less than impressed when Rod Stewart belted it out.
The 77 year old rock icon took to the stage at the star-studded concert which came as part of a stellar four-day line-up of celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and her incredible 70 years on the throne.
The concert, which saw the likes of Diana Ross perform, was watched on by some of the senior members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton and two of their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte who sang along.
Rod took to the stage at Party at the Palace with three backing singers dressed in the colours of the British flag: Red, white and blue.
