A couple whose dog mauled their baby daughter to death in a “tragic” case have been spared jail. Blizzard, a Siberian husky used for racing, killed three-month-old Kyra King in woodland on March 6 last year.
The animal, which was one of 19 dogs kept by Vince King and Karen Alcock, fatally mauled Kyra after the family had been racing the dogs, Lincoln Crown Court heard.
Kyra was left with multiple head and neck injuries, and her parents performed CPR in an attempt to revive her. Judge Sjolin Knight said the incident resulted from a “tragic conjunction of circumstances”.
Sentencing the pair on Monday, she said: “This is a tragic case, and I have no doubt that both of you wish every day you could wind the clock back so that incident never happened.
