Paisley’s new library building wins another award

Paisley’s learning and cultural hub is “setting the standard for libraries in Scotland” as it scoops another award.The new home for Paisley Central Library won the physical category at the EDGE Awards.EDGE brings together national and international library practitioners at its conference in Edinburgh.

The new library facility opened in November 2023 following a £7 million investment from Renfrewshire Council and is part of an ongoing drive to regenerate Paisley and give people new reasons to visit the town centre.

Housed within a former High Street shop and spread over four floors, the new building includes a children’s library and storytelling area – with a unique play structure including a climbing wall and slide also in place having been co-designed with renowned Scottish artist Claire Barclay.The upper floors include an outdoor terrace, community rooms and a study area for young adults, as well as free WiFi and PC access to support digital inclusivity.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week.The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
