A Paisley man has been jailed after he smashed a car window with a rock and then stole a purse from the glove box.Gordon Millar appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court via video link from Low Moss prison and admitted he smashed open a car window by throwing a rock at it and then stole a purse from the glove box on July 5 last year in the town’s High Street.Millar, 41 also admitted shouting, swearing and making threatening remarks to a female police officer on the same day.Procurator Fiscal David McDonald told the court: “The owner of the vehicle parked and secured her car around 2.40pm and left a white River Island purse, which contained her driving licence and a Nationwide and RBS bank card, in the glove box.“The owner then made her way to the town centre.“Around 3pm, Mr Millar was with a man in a wheelchair when they both stopped near to the parked vehicle.“Millar picked up a rock and walked towards the car and threw it at the driver’s window when it bounced off the car and landed on the ground.“Millar picked up the rock again and threw it again at the car, smashing the window.“Both males laughed at what happened and walked off.”The court heard that people nearby witnessed the incident and contacted the police.Mr McDonald added: “Millar took the purse from the glove box of the car and headed towards High Street.“Millar riffled through the purse, took the items out of it and sat them on the male in the wheelchair’s lap and put the purse in a public bin.“Around 3.10pm, the owner of the vehicle returned and saw her car was damaged and that her purse was missing and she also contacted the police.” Don't miss the latest headlines
