A judge praised Samsung workers for helping to catch a paedophile after they discovered indecent images of children on his smartphone.

John Kevin Furby, 57, admitted two offences of having of possessing extreme pornographic images and videos on his home computer.

The defendant was traced after submitting his device to Samsung for the company to put images into a folder, Grimsby Live reports.

After spotting an image of a naked young girl on the phone, a technical assistant raised the alarm. Prosecutor Stephen Robinson told Grimsby Crown Court how the employee, named as Mr Shad, informed his manager and the organisation's head office.
