In case you missed it, Starz recently announced the news that Outlander would be getting a prequel series. Dubbed Blood of My Blood, it will be based on the yet-to-be-written story of Jamie Fraser's parents, Brian and Ellen.
President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby has spoken to Deadline News in a bid to clear up what the news will mean for the main show, as well as clarifying how Diana Gabaldon will be involved after the author recently admitted being confused by the announcement.
Refusing to be drawn into discussions of what would happen after season 7 – mainly why season 8 hasn't been confirmed yet – Busby stated that Outlander is "very important" to Starz and they want as much of it as they possibly can have.
She said: “[The prequel will] absolutely not [take away Starz’s commitment to the original series]. What we’ve proven with the Power franchise is that we can have different lanes of storytelling around the same base.
