Outlander's Sam Heughan 'delighted' as he shares exciting update

Outlander actor Sam Heughan has shared his delight at getting back to work after the long-running strike in Hollywood came to an end.US actors union Sag-Aftra has come to a 'tentative' agreement with studio bosses to end the historic 118-day strike.

In an announcement on Wednesday, the union said the longest walkout in it’s history will end at 12.01am US Pacific time on Thursday following a “unanimous vote”.The union, which represents around 160,000 members of the industry, downed tools on July 14, causing major disruption to Hollywood productions.In September the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which represents more than 11,000 members, agreed to a deal with studio bosses after 146 days on the picket line over issues of pay and the threat of artificial intelligence.The deal comes after the union’s negotiating committee spent days deliberating over several items it deemed “essential”.

And now Scots actor Sam, who plays Jamie Fraser in hit show Outlander, shared his delight at being able to get back on set as filming for the last ever season of Outlander gets underway.

Sharing a picture of him and his on-screen wife Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser, he wrote: " The strike is over!!Delighted to be able to work, promote and talk about Acting again…@outlander_star @meninkiltsstarz #TheCoupleNextDoor."
