An opening date has been confirmed for Blantyre’s new supermarket, which is getting set to welcome back customers after being completely rebuilt.Lidl will open its upgraded branch at Whistleberry Road on Thursday, February 13, with the supermarket calling the new store “bigger and better” than its predecessor which was on the same site and saying it will offer “a significantly upgraded shopping experience”.
Ten additional jobs have been created with the opening of the rebuilt supermarket, with existing staff also returning to the store – which will feature expanded bakery and chiller sections, toilets including baby change, electric vehicle rapid charging points and solar panels on the roof which will help to power the store.
