OpenAI has announced GPTs, a new platform for creating custom versions of their AI-based chatbots. The new venture is available now to paid ChatGPT subscribers and Enterprise users, and no previous coding experience is necessary to get started.
GPTs was announced on November 6 during OpenAI’s developer conference, DevDay. A user can create their own GPT by inputting exactly what it is they want the function to be — learning board game rules, help with creative writing, or design tips, for example.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman boasted of the potentially limitless possibilities of GPTs. “You can build a GPT— a customized version of ChatGPT — for almost anything,” Altman said during his DevDay address, “because they combine instructions, expanded knowledge, and actions, they can be more helpful to you.” “Since launching ChatGPT, people have been asking for ways to customize ChatGPT to fit specific ways that they use it,” OpenAI wrote in their announcement. “We launched Custom Instructions in July that let you set some preferences, but requests for more control kept coming.
