The death, the first recorded since Saturday, means the region's hospital death toll is 5,889, according to NHS figures. A patient sadly lost their life at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, marking the only death recorded in the north west region in the latest figures.
The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Wednesday May 5, are: Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 648 Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9 Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,183 NHS
