A one-legged paedophile who is supposed to be behind bars in the West Indies has been told he can carry on living in Scotland.Violent thug Colin Kristensen was caged on the island of Sint Maarten for abusing a six-year-old girl, passing round child pornography and looting jewels.Jail chiefs allowed the beast out to fly to Glasgow to get a false limb fitted – but that was in 2019 and he never returned.

Now Crown Office lawyers have said he can stay here indefinitely. The predator, 55, has claimed he’s too ill to fly to the Caribbean to finish his seven-year term and needs our superior free NHS treatment.

The decision comes despite Kristensen twice being convicted of breaching sex offender register rules while here.Last night, Scottish Conservative justice spokesman Russell Findlay said: “This paedophile should be behind bars in Sint Maarten.

Scots of all ages who know how difficult it is to receive NHS treatment will be sickened that a fugitive sex offender is able to play the system in order to access free healthcare.“A full explanation about how he came to be here and the exact status and decisions around the apparently doomed extradition process must be provided.”The axing of the extradition comes in contrast to the case of sex offender Nicholas Rossi who claimed he was too ill to be returned to his native US on rape charges but lost his fight this month.Kristensen was back in court last week to be fined £670 for failing to keep police informed of his address.
