An aviation expert and travel writer issued a stark warning to travellers about a popular but potentially hazardous clothing choice for flights.
Comfort is key when selecting an airport outfit, particularly for those facing long-haul flights. American author Christine Negroni has advised against wearing leggings, which are often considered the ultimate comfort wear for air travel.
The reason isn't fashion-related but rather a matter of safety, reports MyLondon. Speaking to The Sun, Negroni highlighted that leggings are "one of the most dangerous things a passenger could wear if an emergency occurs onboard".
She explained that in the event of a crash or cabin fire, leggings could increase the risk of sustaining burns. Negroni elaborated to Sun Online Travel: "You might have to escape through a cabin fire or there could be a separate fire on the ground once you leave the aircraft." She continued, cautioning passengers: "Everyone is wearing yoga pants on planes now, but I avoid all artificial fibres because they are more likely to burn and stick to you if there is a fire.
