Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction
Liam Payne fans around the world were in shambles watching the 2025 Grammys. The 67th annual celebration of music aired on Sunday, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight during this year’s emotional In Memoriam.
It’s rare the segment includes someone so young, someone most of the artists present had met or even worked with. Understandably, the In Memoriam kicked off with a tribute specifically to Liam, including footage of him and the rest of the One Direction boys, including Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
He says in the video: Watch the whole thing (below): Ugh! It hits even harder with those beautiful Chris Martin vocals!
