For real, multiple times the POTUS went to some event with Melania Trump, and tons of onlookers saw the footage and photos and said, “NOPE!
That ain’t Melania!” Each time, part of what fed the conspiracy theory was the fact she said and did basically nothing and wore large sunglasses that covered her entire eyes, eyebrows, and some of the sides of her face.
People started to believe the President was literally using a body double because the real Melania refused to do events for him.
