Olympic Hopeful J.J. Rice Dead at 18 After Tragic Accident

J.J. Rice, an 18-year-old kite foil racing star, has tragically passed away in a tragic accident. He was set to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris this summer after placing 8th in the Sail Sydney event late last year. J.J., who was born in the United States but lived in Tonga and considered himself a Tongan citizen, was set to represent the country at the games.

His father confirmed his cause of death to a local paper. Keep reading to find out more… He was free diving from a boat this past weekend and it is believed he suffered a “shallow water blackout,” the news source reported.
