Olivia Rodrigo is getting candid about her thoughts as a pop star as the release date for her upcoming album nears.
The 20-year-old musician opened up in a new interview with The Guardian about her new album, and revealed that she’s always struggled with maintaining a “perfect” pop star persona. And that causes a lot of repressed feelings. I’ve always struggled with wanting to be this perfect American girl and the reality of not feeling like that all the time.” It’s also part of the reason why Olivia has no desire to watch HBO’s recently cancelled, The Idol. “There’s such an archetype of what a ‘pop star’ should be.
I never really thought of myself as that, it’s the term that people throw around. Things you should wear and do and how you should be accessible at all times.
