Oliver Abildgaard insists he is ready to fill Callum McGregor’s Celtic shoes. The skipper was forced off injured during Wednesday night’s 3-1 Champions League Group F defeat away to RB Leipzig.
Manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the injury is “fairly significant” and that McGregor is facing a lengthy spell out of action after heading to see a specialist today.
But his absence offers Abildgaard an opportunity to establish himself in the starting XI after arriving on loan from Rubin Kazan on deadline day.
He made his debut with a late cameo appearance off the bench during last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Motherwell before being thrown into the European clash in Germany.
