Oliver Abildgaard has completed his move to Celtic on a season-long loan deal to become the ninth summer signing of a busy summer transfer window for the champions who have further strengthened in their title defence bid.
The 26-year-old’s transfer brings to an end Ange Postecoglou’s summer-long search for a defensive midfielder. Abildgaard came through the youth ranks at Aalborg where he spent five years before joining Rubin Kazan on loan.
He then joined the Russian club on a permanent deal two years ago but was keen to move on following his adopted homeland’s invasion of Ukraine.
Abildgaard joins former Rubin Kazan team-mates Carl Starfelt and Sead Haksabanovic at Parkhead after a club statement confirmed the transfer.
