Jones’ last appearance for the first team came all the way back in January 2020, a FA Cup fixture against Tranmere Rovers in which he popped up on the scoresheet.
Following that match, the 29-year-old decided to undergo the knife to fix a knee injury that had been troubling him for years.
Signed as a promising 19-year-old from Blackburn Rovers for £16.5million, Jones has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the Reds and won the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League in the process.
