Oldham Athletic owner Frank Rothwell completes solo row across the Atlantic - beating his own world record

The owner of Oldham Athletic has arrived in the Caribbean after two months rowing solo across the Atlantic. That's despite earlier drifting off-course after falling asleep.

Frank Rothwell, 73, set off from the Canary Islands in a one-man rowing boat on December 12 as he set off across the world's second-biggest ocean for the second time.

And tonight (Thursday), Frank arrived at the island of Antigua. It brought the businessman's epic 3,000 mile voyage, which lasted 64 days, to an end and means he has bettered his own world record of being the oldest person to row the Atlantic solo, which he set in 2021. A post on his challenge's social media page said: "His family had a very emotional morning trying to make contact with him, but his son has just been in contact to let us know that Frank is fine and was asleep.
