Do you love the look of gel nails, but hate the damage that comes when you naughtily pick them off? Yeah, me too. I always promise myself I’ll be sensible and soak my Shellac off properly but as soon as there’s a chip, it’s like a scratch I can’t help but itch.
Next thing I know, there’s a pile of gel shreds on the carpet, and some miserable, ragged-looking naked nails on display. It’s a vicious cycle.The more I pick, the more I need another gel manicure to cover them up, and the more likely I am to get that dreaded hot stabbing flash when paper-thin nails go under the curing lamp.
So when I heard that a damage-free DIY gel alternative was launching, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it – or rather, get it on my hands.
Glaize is a new online service that creates a unique set of made-to-measure gel nail stickers for each customer, laser cut for the perfect fit. “They’re different to nail wraps and stickers as they are made from actual gel and are UV-cured in the same way that salon manicures are,” explains brand founder Gina Farran, a former investment banker who was inspired by the fact she never had time to visit a nail bar. “They have the look and shine of gels, but they’re quick, easy and non-damaging to use.
