A watched kettle never boils as they say and you have to admit that some take way longer than others. But when we're all counting the pennies amid the cost of living crisis, we can't afford to be hanging around and shoppers are clearly on the hunt for more energy efficient products.
Well there's one particular kettle that's causing quite a stir at the moment and that's the Russell Hobbs Inspire. With a 3,000 watt output it boils one cup in just 46 seconds and with clear cup markings inside it, it means you'll never boil more than you need.
I tried it out and it was true to its word on timings, boiling enough for a large mug in under a minute and boiling the maximum 1.7 litres - enough for seven brews - in three-and-half minutes.
That equates to around 5p, or around 40p a day if you have the eight brews a day I typically have, although this would be reduced dramatically by boiling just enough for one mug at a time.
