Official objection lodged with council over controversial proposals for rail-freight hub at Ravenscraig

A Lanarkshire MSP has submitted an official objection to proposals to build a controversial railhead and logistics hub at Ravenscraig.The Russell Group is behind the plans to build the railhead logistics hub at the former industrial site at a cost of around £200m.The group has been seeking permission from North Lanarkshire Council’s planning department to build the hub in Motherwell, despite being met with objections from residents living nearby.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

It should be communities themselves who have the biggest say in community planning, and with over 600 formal objections, these plans are clearly not welcomed.“North Lanarkshire Council should be focusing on providing affordable homes and community facilities that residents can actually use and enjoy.
