When Natalie McDonald popped into Greggs for her lunch yesterday, she only expected to leave with a butty or a bake. But the Manchester city centre neighbourhood inspector came away from the shop with something entirely different.
Detective Inspector McDonald was collecting lunch for herself and some colleagues during her shift on Thursday (March 14) when she spotted someone attempting to steal food.
Although she wasn't on-duty at the time, DI McDonald sprung into action and called for back-up. The 41-year-old offender was arrested on suspicion of theft.
Police soon realised that the man was also wanted on suspicion of burglary in North Manchester, drug offences in Scotland and failing to appear at Court.
