Former Celtic hero Odsonne Edouard has received a less than glowing verdict after an inconsistent first season with Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a Roy of the Rovers debut with two goals on his Premier League debut off the bench against Tottenham in a 3-0 win.

But it hasn't been plain sailing since he sealed his £14m transfer away from Celtic on deadline day last summer. Edouard netted six goals in total but Selhurst Park punters were left miffed with a host of wonky Palace displays during the second half of the campaign. It was a debut season to savour for Patrick Vieira but the displays of his marquee striker didn't live up to the burgeoning reputation he earned north of the border.

And the Evening Standard pulled no punches as they named Edouard their biggest letdown on the season for the Eagles. They wrote: "His move has not worked out brilliantly and a tame performance in the FA Cup semi-final at the end of a brilliant Palace run edges this." Edouard was a bona fide Celtic star with 79 goals across 188 appearances that included a loan spell before Brendan Rodgers pushed to secure a £9m deal.
