UK Government has reportedly drawn up plans to introduce a ‘firebreak’ lockdown in England from as early as next month if hospitalisations remain at their current levels.

Scientists advising the government are said to be concerned about the number of daily Covid hospital admissions and there are fears that it could potentially overload the NHS.

A member of the Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) claimed that the UK is on the verge of entering “an extended peak” of infections and hospitalisations.
