North Lanarkshire pupils invited to enter annual business competition

Budding entrepreneurs from secondary schools across North Lanarkshire are being invited to enter an annual business competition to pitch their innovative ideas.Schools have until September 11 to register up to two teams of S3 pupils to take part in ths year’s Dragons’ Lair contest run by North Lanarkshire Council and Business Gateway Lanarkshire.Each group is asked to devise an idea for a new product or service, with participating teams then attending an information session on September 19 where expert advisers will help them to write a business plan.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Last year’s winners were the Coltness High team of Millie McCormick, Isla Robertson and Madison Torrance for their make-up app Beauty Buddy, featuring tutorials and recommendations for products and clothes, based on skin and body type.

The runners-up were Dalziel High’s team AquaVate, who devised a smart water bottle equipped with a mobile app, and Bellshill Academy’s “Grad Lets” service to support new students leaving home for the first time.
